Gabriel Ayala, classical guitarist, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon graduation from High School in 1991, he enrolled at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and studied under the direction of Philip Hii. In 1993, Gabriel won an Honors Concert Competition with his performance of the 2nd and 3rd movements of the Villa-Lobos Concerto. After three years of studying at Del Mar, Gabriel was offered an Adjunct Faculty position while obtaining his Bachelor of Music degree at Texas A & M University. Immediately following, Gabriel was awarded a Graduate Fellowship at the University of Arizona in Tucson. In 1997, he attained his Master's of Music degree that focused on Music Performance and was honored by being one of the twenty-two competitors chosen to compete in the Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition in Malibu, California.
