Arvel Bird (Paiute / Me’tis) has performed all over the world with artists such as Glen Campbell, Loretta Lynn, Clay Walker and with his own band. He has opened for R. Carlos Nakai Quartet, Jim Boyd and others, but has headlined many other events. His background is an eclectic mix of classical, Celtic, jazz, bluegrass, country, which all helped to shape his unique style of Native violin / flute instrumental music. This diversity, in addition to his drug and alcohol-free lifestyle, makes Arvel a favorite among festival promoters and schools everywhere. Over the past two years, Arvel has developed his Native program to incorporate Native stories about animals and their totem meanings as well as historical stories about great Indian Chiefs such as Cochise. He can tailor his program to suit any request from intimate gatherings to large jazz festivals. Arvel was classically trained from the age of 9. He attended Arizona State University on a music scholarship and later transferred to the University of Illinois – Champaign-Urbana, studying with the world-renowned Hungarian Paul Roland. He’s very easy to work with, low maintenance and always happy to do advanced promotions in order to maximize the event’s attendance.
